Domus Catholica

Terms of Use

Domus Catholica — Version 1.3 of 26 October 2026

1. Purpose and publisher

The Domus Catholica app (“the app”) is published by the publisher of Domus Catholica (“the publisher”). Contact: info@domuscatholica.ch.

The app is distributed through Apple’s App Store and is subject to Apple’s standard Licensed Application End User License Agreement. These terms supplement it. By using the app you accept them; if you do not accept them, do not use the app.

2. Nature of the content

The app is a personal tool for prayer and information. It is not an official publication of the Catholic Church and has not been approved by any ecclesiastical authority.

The calendar, the Masses and much of the text were generated automatically from the open Divinum Officium project; translations come from third-party sources or were written for the app. This content may contain errors or omissions. Only the printed liturgical books and the competent ecclesiastical authority are authoritative; proper calendars of dioceses, countries and orders are not included.

Information on fasting and abstinence is general and historical (the discipline of 1962). It is neither medical advice nor a rule for your own situation: for health matters, consult a doctor; for the discipline that applies to you, follow your diocese and ask a priest.

The chant audio is a synthesised melody meant for learning; it is not a recording.

3. No warranty

The app is provided “as is” and “as available”. To the fullest extent permitted by law, the publisher does not warrant that the content is accurate, complete or up to date, that the app is free of errors or interruptions, or that it is fit for any particular purpose. Reminders, notifications and widgets depend on the device’s operating system and may not appear.

4. Limitation of liability

To the fullest extent permitted by applicable law, the publisher is not liable for any direct or indirect damage arising from the use of, or inability to use, the app, in particular: errors or omissions in the content, decisions made on the basis of the app, loss of data stored on the device (intentions, voice memos, novenas, settings), use of printed or shared documents, or settings made in other apps (for example Shortcuts or Do Not Disturb).

Liability that cannot be excluded by law remains reserved, in particular for intent or gross negligence (art. 100 of the Swiss Code of Obligations) and for injury to life, body or health. Otherwise, any liability of the publisher is limited to the price you paid for the app.

5. Personal data

The app requires no account, uses no server operated by the publisher, shows no advertising and contains no tracking or analytics tools. Your settings, intentions, patron saints, voice memos and novenas are stored only on your device and are deleted with the app. The microphone is used only when you record a voice memo and, during the rosary prayed with the app, if you choose “By my voice”: only the sound level is measured to tell when you have finished answering; nothing is recorded, transcribed or sent. To tell you about a new version, the app queries Apple’s public App Store service at most once a day, without sending personal data (as with any connection, Apple only receives the device’s IP address); this check can be turned off in Settings. Reminders are local notifications.

Purchases (the app and any tips) are processed solely by Apple; the publisher receives no payment data. If you write to info@domuscatholica.ch, your message is used only to reply to you. You are responsible for backing up your device (for example with iCloud Backup).

6. Price, purchase and tips

The app may be offered on the App Store for a one-time payment; the applicable price is the one shown by the App Store at the time of purchase. Sale, billing, taxes, Family Sharing and any refunds are handled solely by Apple under its terms.

The purchase grants you a personal, non-exclusive and non-transferable right to use the app, within the limits of Apple’s licence agreement. It gives no right to updates, new features or the app remaining available on the App Store.

Any tips are voluntary. They support the development of the app and give no right to any consideration; they are not donations to a charity and are not tax-deductible.

7. Intellectual property

The code, design, logo and texts written for the app belong to the publisher. Third-party content remains subject to its licences: Divinum Officium (MIT licence), Exsurge (MIT licence), jgabc (public domain), GregoBase transcriptions; the ancient Latin liturgical texts are in the public domain.

You may use the app for personal and family use. PDFs and printouts may be used and shared free of charge for personal, family or parish prayer, keeping the mention of the source; selling them is prohibited.

8. Use of the app

You agree to use the app lawfully and not to circumvent, copy or redistribute it, except to the extent expressly permitted by law.

9. Changes

The publisher may change, suspend or withdraw the app or any feature at any time, without any obligation of maintenance or updates. The publisher may change these terms; the new version is shown in the app and applies as soon as you continue to use it.

10. Apple

These terms are concluded between you and the publisher, not with Apple. Apple is not responsible for the app or its content, has no obligation to provide maintenance or support for it, and is not responsible for any claims relating to the app. Apple and its subsidiaries are third-party beneficiaries of these terms and may enforce them against you.

11. Governing law and jurisdiction

These terms are governed by Swiss law. The place of jurisdiction is in Switzerland, at the publisher’s domicile, subject to mandatory places of jurisdiction provided by law, in particular in favour of consumers.

If any clause is void, the others remain valid. In case of discrepancy between translations, the French version prevails.
